I was concerned yesterday when my friend who is the director of golf at my home course was in a very depressed mood. Now I know why…

Any locals to the Salt Lake or Sandy cities here in Utah should join me and our friends from River Oaks Golf Course this afternoon at 5pm for a meeting regarding the carnage which will happen to our course.

The power company has an easement and the right to build a 2nd line of huge 120 foot tall power poles which would go right through the course. The new poles would be about 70 feet to the west of the current set of poles which run North-South. This would put a pole right in the middle of the fairway on #1, a pole next to the green on #2 and several poles down the line on #15. Teeing off from the black tees on #1 would require threading your shot between the two 120 foot poles.

There’s an open house TODAY from 5-7pm at Salt Lake Community College. Join me and bring any golfers you can and we’ll see if we can talk them into moving the poles to less destructive locations.
