Phil Mickelson’s club setup for The Masters

I’m watching Phil Mickelson’s pre-tournament interview right now. Phil is going to have an interesting club setup this week.

Two drivers

Phil will once again be playing a draw driver and fade driver. He’s taking out his sand wedge and says that since they lengthened Augusta National there are no more sand wedge approach shots for him. His draw driver is one he and Callaway specifically designed for The Masters. They’ve worked on it for six months.

64 degree wedge & no 3-wood

Phil will also be taking out his 3-wood and replacing it with a 64 degree wedge. He says that there was only one possible 3-wood shot for him on Augusta National, on #8. But he says if that shot presents itself, he’ll be using his fade driver off the ground.

Phil takes a poke at Vijay

Phil made a joke today saying that the greens never have spike marks. The joke being that Vijay Singh has previously complained that Phil was dragging his feet and messing up the greens.

Mickelson to carry two Callaway Drivers

Looks like Phil Mickelson will be employing the “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” philosophy when he packs his golf bag for Thursday’s first round. From Callaway Golf – It’s likely that Mickelson will once again carry two…

I have a feeling he’s not going to win this week. He’s just been too quiet lately – way off the radar. But I don’t think Adam Scott will win either even though he won last week.

Phil Mickelson said Happy Mother’s Day to All out there today at the THe Players. He won and his greeting to all of us was awesome!
    Thanks, Kiddo
