Masters wants Arnold Palmer as honorary starter

masters augusta georgiaSpeaking of Arnold Palmer, Augusta National chairman Billy Payne has asked him to be the honorary starter at The Masters this year. There hasn’t been an honorary starter since Sam Snead died back in 2002.

I’d like to see Arnold do it. I miss that tradition have having old Masters greats start it off.

Palmer: “I’m thinking about it. I’m giving it some very careful consideration now that I have stopped playing competitively. As you know, Augusta is one of my very favorite places, and of course, Bill Payne is a good friend.”
