State of golf blogs

Time for some “blogging” here!

There was a span of time last Summer and Fall where golf blogs were popping up faster than acne on a teenage girl, faster than empty beer cans and out of tune vocals at a John Daly concert, faster than PGA Tour players packing it in on the Sunday back 9 when Tiger is in the hunt. That growth has slowed and some golf blogs have gone dormant.

New

Found a new one through Robert Thompson called Now On The Tee. I’m bored of blogger templates but oh well.

Speaking of Robert Thompson, he’s relocated. I was hoping for a going4thegreen.com kind of URL but instead he’s joined forces with http://www.ontgolf.ca/ from Ontario. Robert’s URL is now http://www.ontgolf.ca/site/blogs/.

HOG has got a new international friend: Fuera de Limites. I don’t read Spanish but they link to my posts all the time. Hopefully they’re linking…

Another newer golf blog is Ian Andrew’s “Caddy Shack.”

My Daily Slice is a…. oh wait. Major pop up ads.. Never mind.

My new good pal Tom Gov has started up Point 1 Golf and is doing very well.

Dead, dying, dormant

Jam Boy took the golf blog world by storm but hasn’t posted since January 7th.
World Golf Views’ last post June 23, 2005.
Musey last posted July 18th, 2005. I do miss her.
No Damn 3 Putts was a golf blog with balls. But hasn’t had the balls to blog since May 14, 2005.
I miss MJ.
Hitting the links, October 2005.

Man there are so many I may need to do a 2nd list.

My favorites

Eat Golf – Rich always has something up his sleeve that he’s pulling an “all night-er” over.
Bogey Lounge – A Greek golf blogger. What a concept.
Golf Chick just made her 100th post! Two of my favorite things. Golf and chicks…
Golf Blogger is one of the all time best.
Grouchy is one of the first and best. He’s very good at sparking a good debate.
Luke Swilor is a neighbor, golf buddy and aspiring pro.

And what happened to the Untaunted Duffer? All the posts are gone….

As for the german golf blogosphere, I pretty much feel alone with just a couple of others. That may also be the reason I blog in english, so I can connect with you guys over here better.

Hmm. I’ve seen some stuff like that on blogger sites before. Sometimes on blogger sites I get “you are not authorized to view this page” type errors too.

If I didn’t mention you sorry, have you seen my golf blog roll lately? Got to be well over 100 of them.

FWIW, the Undaunted Duffer (Matt Karlak) writes for The Sand Trap now (Hittin’ the Links), BUT that in no way excludes him from writing on his own site. Just last week there was content there…? What Tony says is right: sometimes Blogger sites just act funny. It should be back.

Personally, I have 81 subscriptions in my golf blogroll, which I keep semi-updated here: http://thesandtrap.com/golf.opml .

  5. Dude…you’re hurting my feelings, not having my blog – http://www.performbettergolf.com/blog as one of your “favorites”.

    DOH! Sorry Mike…. Eric wasn’t too thrilled either I guess… WELL HELL YOU CAN’T PUT EVERYONE…hehe. 🙂

LOL. Can’t please um’ (us) all. I think you’ve earned your right though that you don’t need to.

Sorry about the pop-ups. I have a blocker, so I don’t see them. I’d be frustrated if I saw them also. It’s probably my Bravenet mini-poll. I like having a poll, but don’t want to keep people from reading my stuff, so if you know of any free poll templates I could find on the Internet, please let me know. You can email me at jfbeule@yahoo.com

    Thanks,

    JFB
