Carlsbad Confidential shut down by “the man”

It’s official. As of tomorrow (June 15) Carlsbad Confidential will come to an end, and will be redirected to the “people” section of TMAG’s site.

My buddy Jason was starting to get a neat inside golf blog going there, but the corporate lawyers had something else in mind. Jason says his posts there will be basically the same. Time will tell.

The TMAG insider blog will have other people posting inside info there as well, so perhaps this will turn out to be a good thing. I do hope they revamp what they are doing there. Right now it’s just a bunch of ads and promotional paragraphs disguised as a blog entries, with no author names and no comments.
To me what makes a “blog” is the personality of the blogger and his viewpoint. Corporate lawyers will do whatever they can to eliminate that.

Perhaps Hooked On Golf Blog will have a new anonymous contributor who seems to have an inside scoop on the golf equipment world eh? 🙂

UPDATE:

Jason has been kind enough to “clarify” my post on their situation and what they’re doing. So be sure to click on the comment link below for a more clear picture.

Thanks Jason

Take it easy on the lawyers. If there is a “man” that shut this site down, it is me.
We will still have personality with the site — I really think this will be better, not worse.
By the way, this commenting feature doensn’t work very well in IE.

  2. Jason says:

Oh, and the new site will look nothing like the current TMaG Insider site.

I’ve always thought of you as “the man” but just not that “man!”

I would look forward to getting an inside scoop from many of the TMAG people. So I hope it does have that and some flavor. I’d like to see something I can’t find anywhere else from TMAG.

I couldn’t find the “people” link on the insider section though. Does it exist yet? Let me know what it is so I can make a link for it here.

I was under the impression (which could be wrong, clarifications welcome) that you wanted to continute Carlsbad Confidential but had to stop it. Perhaps you weren’t forced but “influenced” by the possibility of the threat of legal issues. In either case that’s too bad we have to worry about that kind of thing.

Thanks for the tip on IE. Doing this blog thing really sucks (as you know) when trying to make it look “nice” on all browsers.

  4. Jason says:

Again, the current Insider site will bear no resemblance to the new one.
The new site, which will have all these new features, will be up later today.

Aha….so I’m not going crazy. I must have posted my comment while you were posting comment #2…

  6. mediaguru says:

Hmm, I just booted up IE and the comment feature seems to work well and just the same as Firefox. What is the issue you’re having in IE? I guess I’d better check safari too…
