Phil Mickelson has confirmed he’ll be playing in the final major of the year, the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine.  This is good.

Will the fourth and final major of the year have a big name winner?  So far, no big names like Phil, Tiger, Sergio…

Mon: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m ET on The Golf Channel

Heck of a leaderboard right now with Retief Goosen, Anthony Kim and others all with a chance to win.  Mike Weir isn’t out of the realm of possibilities either at four back.  Watching PGA Tour golf on Monday doesn’t suck!

Mark Calcavecchia sets new PGA Tour record with NINE birdies in a row

Anyone have Calc on their fantasy team today?  Mark Calcavecchia birdied holes 3-11 today in the Canadian Open.  That is a new PGA Tour record and also insanely good.

My personal record is five in a row.  I remember vividly… (Sound of harps, dream state ensues)….  I was playing straight up, nine holes against the #1 amateur in the state.  Yes that isn’t generally a good idea.  Under normal conditions he’d crush me.  But I birdied the first five holes, en route to a one up victory after nine.  Yes, one up.  He ran out of holes.  Needless to say, he was not happy.  I was.
