JD, Big John, Mr. Nicotine and Diet Coke, Hooters, Mullet…  …is no longer suspended from the PGA Tour.  He’s sporting wild clothes from Loudmouth Golf and has lost a few pounds to boot.  Is this the new JD?  I doubt it.

JD has been playing fairly well on the European Tour.  Perhaps he should stay over there?  He doesn’t seem to do as well here in the states.  Must be the fact that the beer is so much better over there.

Golfsmith acquired MacGregor

About a week ago MacGregor golf was bought by Golfsmith.  I’ve got two sets of MacGregor irons, a MacGregor 3-wood and two Bobby Grace / MacGregor putters.  Or is it three?  Can’t even remember.

Another “classic” line like Ben Hogan is absorbed and has become a shadow of what it used to be.  It sounds like Golfsmith bought the brand for pennies if I’m reading this article right, $1.75 million over three years?  Maybe that is just for the “rights” to the brand.

Regardless, I’ve been a fan of MacGregor and had success with the gear I own from them.  While Golfsmith will have MacGregor be a “house” brand for them, this will obviously mean you won’t see it in other big name chains.

Greg Norman is now officially out of the golf equipment business and owns no stake in any golf equipment company.  Sell sell!

I’ve got a couple of new links today which I’ve added to the HOG Master Links:

Michigan Golf Live Blog

I met a new buddy and fellow golf media guy while in New Mexico a couple of weeks ago. I was going to write a post about my pal Bill Hobson’s radio show called Michigan Golf Live (MGL) and his accompanying TV show. But before I could get to that Bill informs me he’s started a golf blog too! So stop by MGL’s Blog at http://mgliveblog.blogspot.com/ and check it out. I’ll be doing a post soon about Bill’s other golf media exploits as well.

Two Golf Blogs From The Netherlands

First link looks to be a golf blog of some sort, nice template and look:

The 2nd link is definitely a golf blog and looks very sharp:

GolfOfficial.com are content stealing aholes who should be strung up and forced to listen to Kenny G until their ears bleed, or until they take their own lives, whichever comes first. Then they should be taken to Detroit to be tortured.

I deal with asses who steal my posts all the time. The latest is this site which is a “free” godaddy account. The url has golfofficial in it, but the stupid header says gaminglot.com. They’re scraping my posts, and the posts of many other golf blogs and reposting them on their site. Even more, they have banner and google ads on their site. If someone clicks one of those banners, they’re making money off of stealing mine and other golf bloggers’ hard work. They might as well break into my car and steal my golf clubs. No difference.

I specifically say in my disclaimer that this isn’t allowed. Time to report them to google and godaddy and see if I can get their stealing worthless asses shut down.

Just to show how quickly they steal my posts, here is an image if this post I just made as it appears on their site:

Brian is “going home” from Big Break PEI. I guess he wanted to.

Brian Big Break PEII haven’t chimed in on the latest Big Break lately. Big Break PEI (Prince Edward Island) has been on the low side of entertaining. Despite having my friend and mega hot golf babe Blair O’Neal on the show, I have yet to see any of the trademark Golf Channel “super slow-mo hot golf babe up skirt” shots. Come on guys. Get with the program.

About the only really entertaining part of this show is this Brian guy. He’s constantly saying how he can hit the ball farther than all the other players “if he wanted to” and how he could beat the pants of off everyone “if he wanted to.” If this show were a smack talking contest he’d be the hands down champ. I really think the strongest part of his game, and perhaps the only part, is his positive attitude.

Unfortunately for Brian, and for the entertainment value of this program, Brian couldn’t “positive think” himself out of elimination. He’s gone. I wonder why he had such skill to use in his arsenal of talent “if he wanted to” but chose never to use it. I guess he just didn’t want to.
