My last 10 rounds or so I’ve been testing out the new Tour Yellow Srixon ZStar. I’ve gotten some interesting comments from other golfers about playing a yellow ball. Some think it is cheesy and ask me why I’m playing a range ball on the course and some say it looks cool. The ball itself is very highly visible and bright, and especially easy to see on the course. The one guy who made fun of it two days ago was thinking otherwise when I shot a 73 with the thing for my first round of the year at his club.
Is there something to the color?
This ball isn’t just yellow. It is green, yellow and looks to have some sort of metallic looking flakes or crystal in there. The ball is highly reflective. It is much easier to spot this ball from 200 out than a white ball and Srixon actually has factual data to back that up. According to them, yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum. I’m sure they didn’t realize how redundant that statement is, because I’m sure there isn’t a “most visible color not in the visible spectrum.” Ahem. (more…)
I get so many requests to mention web sites, press releases, products, charities etc, that if I mentioned them all I’d have to do 20 posts a day. But this one I felt is worth a mention. So I’m going to be spending a full day at the Tuesday practice round of the Masters last week. I have about 12.8 billion golf shirts in my wardrobe to choose from. I chose to wear my white Swag Golf bamboo charcoal golf shirt.
About Swag Golf Shirts
Swag Golf shirts are made from bamboo charcoal which is basically burnt bamboo. Bamboo is a fast growing grass and thus more eco-friendly and sustainable as a consumable.
Bamboo charcoal also has some great inherent features. It is anti-bacterial, anti fungal, anti-static and self deodorizing. I really need that last feature.
Swag says the shirt promotes the human body’s bio processes such as increased metabolism and blood circulation. I’m not sure about that one, but I can’t prove ’em wrong since I haven’t measured my blood circulation with and without the shirt on… 🙂
Looks
Bamboo aside, the shirt simply looks awesome. There’s a hint of an argyle pattern in the body of the shirt which gives it a cool look. The logo looks nice. The cut and sizing of the shirt are very stylish.
On the course, or Augusta National as the case may be
I’ve worn my Swag Golf shirt for many golf rounds already, as well as while walking the grounds at Augusta National last week. The shirt is extremely comfortable and I can tell it breaths very well. Even in the 85 degree, high moisture conditions in Georgia last week, I was cool and dry. During golf swings there are no tugs or tight areas. No swing restriction or compromises in comfort.
Conclusion
Swag Golf shirts are stylish, comfortable, environmentally friendly and they just plain look great. I wish my pals at Swag Golf great success in their business.

6:55pm ET: Phil Mickelson wins his 3rd green jacket after an exclamation point birdie on the last hole. What an incredible week it has been for me in particular, as I was on the grounds at Augusta National for the first time. What a tournament. What a place. And I’m spent.
Good news: only 361 days left until the 2011 Masters.
6:40pm: Westwood makes birdie on #17 but Phil handles the pressure making a par putt from about six feet. Two shot lead with the final hole to play. It ain’t over yet. Woods finishes with a 69 after making birdie on the final hole. Strangely, he and Choi played together for four straight days and shot the exact same scores all four days.
