Cool golf bunker rakes with rounded handle

New this year at one of my three home courses are some bunker rakes with rounded handles. See image below:

I can think of several ways this handle is better for golfers or the course:

1. The handle doesn’t leave six foot long imprint in the sand, keeps bunker more pure
2. The handle is easier to grab when accessing the rake
3. The handle won’t stop a golf ball from rolling. Ball will roll under it.

Bubba Watson donates $50K to University of Georgia Play Golf America Program

I’m liking Bubba Watson more and more. Following his victory yesterday in New Orleans Bubba donated $50,000 to his Alma mater, the University of Georgia and its Play Golf America University Program.

“It’s an honor to play in the Stadion Classic. It’s the highlight of my professional career to play in the Ryder Cup, and to be able to take that experience and use it in a way that supports the school I graduated from, it’s just an honor.” ~Bubba Watson

Today’s donation is a prelim to the Stadion Classic, a Nationwide Tour event hosted by the University of Georgia.

Bubba has 3 wins in 10 months, leads FedEx Cup

If you are a pro golfer on tour and your last name starts with a “W,” you had a great chance of winning this past weekend. Both Bubba Watson and Lee Westwood won this week. You may also have had a great chance if you play Ping golf clubs.

No secret that I’m a big fan of Bubba Watson. This self taught, coach free player with the unorthodox swing has notched three wins on Tour in less than a year.

Following the two hole playoff yesterday at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Bubba has moved to #10 in the world and #1 in the 2011 FedEx Cup standings.

I know Lee Westwood is ranked #1 again, but it may be time to start the “best current player without a major” discussion with Bubba as the subject. No doubt Watson is at least the best player from the USA right now.

Record month in April – 3.45 million hits

Hooked On Golf Blog had a huge April, which is typically one of the biggest traffic months in golf.

With the Masters and all the great stuff going on in pro golf, and lots of gear heads checking out my reviews on cool new stuff, HOG logged 3,455,964 hits by 149,854 individual visitors! HOG’s stats can be viewed any time right here.

Bubba Watson

I’m a big Bubba Watson fan. Bubba is currently tied for the lead at -12 in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Webb Simpson. John Rollins is one back at -11. I’d like to see Bubba hold on and pull off another win this year. This year we’ve had some fantastic finishes and this week looks like it could be yet another.

If the sun keeps heating things up here, I may have to set the DVR to record the finish today so I can go play or practice. The snow is melting off.
