It’s gotta be the shoes!
I’ve had a bit of US Open withdrawal since last week. I found it a bit taxing to try to watch the PGA Tour. But today’s final round was quite entertaining.
Jim Furyk and Padraig Harrington duked it out. Furyk missed some easy putts and opened the door for Harrington. On the 18th hole Padraig sunk a 65 foot eagle putt to claim his 2nd PGA Tour victory. (see pic)
Padraig’s secret weapon must have been his Hi-Tec Golf Shoes. Check out my review on them here.
Tonight before dinner my kids and I went on a little walk for our evening ball search. We followed the river which is left of the 17th hole here. Then we hit the hazard right of the 16th green and fairway.
The take: 62 balls
“Birdie” Kim knocked an improbable green side bunker shot in the hole to make birdie and capture the US Women’s Open. What an incredible shot. One of the best, if not THE best shot of the year.
Michelle Wie was tied for the lead going into today, but faded from the spotlight with an 82. Welcome to “Open” pressure Michelle. Put that in your memory banks for future use.
No history making for Annika this time… I would have liked to seen it happen.
Two amateurs (Michelle Wie and Morgan Pressel) are tied with Karen Stupples after the third round of the women’s US Open. Boy would that be some kind of BIG story if Michelle Wie held on for a victory. Who has the guts to make it through Sunday?
Annika had some ground to make up and she did make up 1/6th of it. But she’s trailing by 5 strokes after a so-so putting day. That so-so day included a 4 putt. She did say in a post round interview that she’d have a chance if she shot -2 Sunday and put a +3 score up on the board…. We’ll see. If anyone can do it, Annika can.
Nicole Perrot is the second round leader with a two stroke lead over Michelle Wie. Annika shot a 75 today (4 over) to put herself 6 shots out of the lead.
She can make up 6 shots in two days no problem… I hope she does.
