Just arrived here at HOG world headquarters is the 2nd edition of Tom Watson’s instructional DVD, Lessons of a Lifetime.
I’ll be reviewing the program soon and writing a full review so stay tuned. I will be skipping right to the short game lessons first, the area I need the most work.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Rick Limpert for his radio show on Netcast Studio, “Tech of Sports.” Rick is a very connected and knowledgeable guy in the worlds of technology and miscellaneous sports, especially tennis and golf. It was great meeting Rick and playing some golf with him in Michigan earlier this year. He’s a cool cat and produces a massive amount of great content.
Here’s the interview below in audio form. Click the play button on the left side of the controls. We discuss the beginnings of HOG, the game of golf, golf media, gear, Tiger Woods, and all sorts of other interesting subjects.
Many thanks to Rick Limpert.
larrydoh on Instagram (you know Instagram, that website where you mask bad photos with filters) found this golf ball on the first hole at Congressional Country Club. Yes, it appears to be the golf ball of golfer, I mean president Barack Obama.
This photo is all over the web and I debated whether to post it since it is getting plenty of coverage already. But why isn’t anyone asking or mentioning where on the first hole it was found? My guess would be LEFT of the fairway.
Carry on.
If you were to ask my opinion, I’d say the golf ball market is pretty saturated. We don’t really need more brands and models. That said though, perhaps we could use more (or some) “affordable” high performance golf balls. Perhaps these new Monsta Golf balls fill that niche.
The Monsta ball is a 3-layer ball with a cast urethane cover. Most “tour” level golf balls like the Titleist ProV1 feature the same cover material.
I will put these balls into play soon. I take many rounds to work up my reviews so stay tuned.
My two favorite outdoor activities are golf and flying my remote control aerial vehicles. Both activities are greatly affected by the wind. I’m always looking out the window at the trees, evaluating how many club wind or what the flying conditions are. Now I have a new device for keeping tabs and exact measurements with regards to the current wind conditions, the Weather Flow Wind Meter. The Wind Meter works with Android or iOS devices via several applications.
When there is wind, this device measures average wind speed over whatever given time you sample it and also shows gust levels.
As fate would have it the day I started testing this unit was the first day of the year there was no wind. Zero. None. What are the odds?
Full report soon, assuming there is wind again in the future.
