What an honor it was last week to spend a few minutes interviewing Mr. Fitness, golf legend Gary Player. Interviewing the Black Knight is certainly one of the best highlights in the history of this modest golf blog.
In the interview below I discuss fitness with the 9-time major champion and member of the “Big Three,” the other two of course being Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
The Hooked On Golf Blog World Tour stopped back one one of my favorite places this past weekend, Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane, Utah. Sand Hollow Resort has three courses, a links course, par-3 course and their Championship Course. This facility is one of the best on the planet and the golf is out of this world due to the unique terrain.
While on the course for a couple of days I launched the HOG drone, a camera equipped mini helicopter I’ve built for shooting photos and videos of golf courses (and anything else I can fly over). Though it is winter and the course isn’t as green as it would be in the spring and summer, this video is still quite stunning. This is not bad for my first attempt at putting together video flyover highlights of a golf course.
How fun is this? I’m looking forward to my next trip down later in the season when the course is more green and I will have more time to work on the shots. This time around was quite educational and I will only get better.
If you’d like to hire me to shoot your golf course, event, or location with this setup feel free to contact me.
This is sure to be all over the web, everywhere, but I had to post it anyway because it’s so damn funny. I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with golf legend Chi Chi Rodriguez on many occasion. He’s such a cool cat, full of so many stories.
During an appearance in Puerto Rico (his home) on Golf Channel’s Big Break NFL, Chi Chi’s attempt at the “break the glass” gig went terribly wrong.
Ever been to Missoula, Montana? It is a nice, quiet place with great wilderness and fresh air. I think that fresh air is very beneficial to the genius designers at Sun Mountain, because they come up with some of the most fabulous golf gear! Case in point is the Micro Cart Sport, four wheel golf push cart. Let’s take a detailed look.
Micro Cart Sport Overview
The Micro Cart Sport is a four wheeled golf push cart. Funny, I accidentally typed “posh” cart in the previous sentence. That’s what it is, posh: elegant, chic, stylish, swell, swanky, upper class.
The “micro” part of the name must come from the size of the unit when it is folded up for storage in the car trunk or garage. The folded dimensions are a wee 24.5″ X 16″ X 12″.
Having a cart like this for me is great. I have a bad back but I want to walk the course. I can easily push this cart around and enjoy one of the best (or worst depending on how I’m playing) walks there is, golf.

The Micro cart is loaded with features. Here’s a bullet list:
4 wheel design for stability and easy pushing
Folds to a 24.5″ X 16″ X 12″ package
Folds and unfolds in less than five seconds
Included umbrella holder keeps player and clubs dry
Adjustable handle for players of varying height
Strong magnetic scorecard holder
Large valuables holder with clear frosted plastic. See your golf GPS or phone through the plastic without opening lid
Extendable front axle to accommodate large golf bags
Micro-Paq storage area
Hand brake on handle
This video below is from my review of the Sun Mountain Micro Cart (not the sport version). This shows the basics of how easy it is to fold up and unfold. The action is the same with both models.
There are four color variations: Lime, yellow, pink, red. I chose red (pictured) for my Utah Utes.

On The Course
I’m thrilled with my Sun Mountain Micro Cart. It pushes easily, even when I have about 100+ ounces of water and sports drinks to weather the 100+ degree temperatures of summers here at home.
The unit folds to such a small size I actually thought I’d lost it in my van. It was in front of the seat. They say the mind is the first thing to go.
The Micro-Paq storage area is great. It holds drinks, golf balls, apparel items and all the cash I win from my opponents.
I have no critiques because this push cart is 100% awesome.
If you saw how many push carts I have in my garage you’d think you were in the cart barn of a golf clubhouse. I have many. The Sun Mountain Micro Cart Sport is THE best four wheel golf push cart on this planet and might be the best on other planets too, but since I haven’t been to any other planets I can’t really say…
