Muze Clothing – Big Hitter, The Lama

Here’s a fun golf apparel gig.  Scottsdale, Arizona based Muze Clothing makes fun hats and shirts for men, women, and even pregnant women.

On the golf end of things, Muze came out with a line of products inspired by golf’s greatest movie ever, Caddyshack.  The logos on the items look very similar to golf brand logos we recognize like Titleist, Cleveland, and Cobra, with enough of a twist that they may not be sued.

Big Hitter, The Lama…

Below is my white hat, which is a fitted hat and quite comfortable.

Cinderella Story…

Muze’s hats are available with a few different logos and quotes.  The styles come in regular cap, low profile cap, bucket hat, and visors.  Colors include white, black, gray, red, orange, and blue.

As I mentioned, my hat is very comfy and should prove to be a gamer, especially in summer heat.  The logo is funny.  Regular golf pals don’t notice that it isn’t actually a Cleveland logo until a few holes into the round.

Well played Muze. Well played.

McIlory Steals My Sunday Apparel Script

I decided to vary slightly on my Masters apparel script for this week. After three straight days the socks and underwear were getting just about as crusty as the Sunday greens will be at Augusta National Golf Club.

I decided to put a fresh shirt in play today, the new Nike Lightweight Innovation Color Men’s Golf Polo. Today is my first look at it.  The fabric on this polo is amazing. Very soft and silky.  The trim of the shirt and the detail areas are crafted with high precision.

I noticed in early online broadcasts of Sunday’s final round of the 2014 Masters that Rory McIlory is wearing the SAME exact shirt.  Rory obviously reads HOG and was so impressed with the sharp looks of this polo that he decided he’d wear the same one.  Nice play Rory.

Here’s a link to more pictures of this polo and other 2014 Masters apparel from Nike.

From Nike here’s a list of the features and benefits:

Dri-FIT fabric to wick away sweat and help keep you dry and comfortable
Fold-over collar and button placket for classic polo styling
Contrast sleeves and collar for style
Laser-cut chest pocket for storage and a streamlined look

Fabric: Dri-FIT 100% recycled polyester
Machine wash

This high-performance, microfiber, polyester fabric wicks sweat away from the body and moves it to the fabric surface, where it evaporates. As a result, Dri-FIT fabric helps you stay dry and comfortable.

I poke a lot of fun at golf PR and apparel companies for their “apparel scripts.”  Here’s my 2013 Masters apparel script.   My 2014 Masters apparel script is coming soon.  I’m still finalizing some of the items.  I think Nike Golf got wind of that, and decided to send along some suggestions for my 2014 script.  Their suggestions are based on what some of their athletes will be wearing in the 2014 Masters.  Lets take a look, first at the incredible box the suggestions samples arrived in.

What’s in this beautiful box?

Amazing box…

There you have it. Looks like I may have my 2014 Masters apparel shoe selection done, and a couple of items for the upper bod as well.

Seriously though, this apparel is amazing. The engineering, design, and style are all fantastic.

Sunice Bollon Golf Jacket Review

Sunice_Tornado_Bollon_JacketSunice is a Canadian company which has been making performance golf and winter outerwear since 1976. Those many decades of experience in conditions from the 18th green to 18 degrees below zero culminate in a fantastic jacket called the Bollon, part of their “Tornado” series. I think they use the name Tornado because the jacket is so comfortable and waterproof, you’d be fine in a tornado. Let us take a closer look at this great jacket.

The Tornado Collection features “FlexVent” fabric. This fabric is proprietary to Sunice and combines lightweight with performance in a waterproof, breathable package.

Along with the waterproof fabric, guaranteed for FOUR years, the zippers are also waterproof. Pull-strings in the pockets allow the golfer to tighten the garment around the lower portion of the body to keep drafts and moisture from entering on the bottom. Photo below:

Great drawstring to tighten up the fit and keep the wind out…

The sleeves feature a velcro tightening strap, as well as an elastic inner sleeve. This combination keeps the cold, wind, and weather from entering the sleeves.

The cut of this jacket is very attractive. I particularly like how it accommodates sweaters, sweatshirts and inner layers yet still looks trim.

The lines of the zippers, pockets, and accents are classy and quiet.

On The Course

This past weekend the weather was a perfect test for the Tornado/Bollon. The winds were a solid 20mph, gusting up to 30+. There was some occasional rain to deal with, which due to the wind was falling sideways.

I tightened up the lining near the waist to keep the wind from creeping up the bottom of the jacket. A side benefit to that tightening was keeping the front of the jacket out of the way of my golf swing and especially my putting stroke. I use a short putter and bend over quite far. Sometimes bulky outerwear can snag the putter grip or get in the way of the putting stroke. This is not good, especially when you’re trying to bury your opponent and collect on a $2.00 nassau. Big pressure. Can’t have a garment messing that up.

I also tightened up the sleeves and zipped up the jacket all the way. Despite battening down the hatches I was still comfortable and able to swing freely.

Inside the left pocket I found a surprise. Included with the jacket is a small microfiber towel for cleaning golf balls. It is attached via a small buttoned strap. Very cool and convenient.  Picture:

Ball towel in pocket. Cool idea.

Bollon Sizes/Colors

The Bollon comes in two colors, black and white. Sizes range from small to XXXL.

Outerwear on the golf course is crucial. It needs to fit, keep you warm, keep out the elements, and most of all not interfere with the golf swing. The Sunice Bollon, part of the Tornado Collection, scores top marks across the board.

Dunning Golf Tour Edition Players Sweater Review

Dunning Golf Tour Edition Players Sweater

Dunning Golf Tour Edition Players Sweater

Since 2001 Dunning Golf has been a maker of very high quality, high performance golf apparel.  Ralph Dunning uses proprietary performance fabrics and combines them with very classy styles and designs.  The end result is the most comfortable, best looking, and highest performance golf apparel I’ve reviewed.  Today’s review of the new Tour Edition Players Sweater is no different.  Let us take a look.

Merino Wool

The Tour Edition Players Sweater is made from 100% Australian merino wool.  Before you start thinking you’d be too hot and too itchy, let me tell you that this type of wool is so soft and smooth you might mistake it for silk.

The wool seems to regulate the body temperature.  It breathes well and provides insulation and warmth when needed, but does not get too hot.

“It’s slimming…”  That’s what the lady said to me the first time I put on the TEPS (Tour Edition Players Sweater).  Based on that comment alone I’m sold!  I’m not exactly on the radar for modeling in the next men’s apparel magazine or anything…

The style of this sweater is all class, great to wear on or off the course.

No need for a myriad of colors.  Two is plenty, “Halo” (blue, pictured) and Charcoal gray.

Sizes range from small to double extra-large.

On The Course / Performance

I’m wearing a sweater on the course because I need a little bit of insulation to stay warm and keep the back loose.  Often times wearing these types of layers means a compromise in comfort and movement.  Those compromises mean bad golf swings.  Not the case with the TEPS.  The freedom of movement in the golf swing with this sweater is fantastic.

No restrictions. No binding.  No stretching anywhere.  Swing freely.

I was surprised to see the pricing on this sweater was only $125 retail.  I had it pegged for $199-$249 based on the quality, materials, and style.

When judging golf apparel there four criteria I use, in this order: performance, comfort, style, convenience.  The Dunning Golf Tour Edition Players Sweater earns the highest marks across the board.  That comes as no surprise.  That’s what I would expect from Dunning.
