Hard for me to watch celebrity pro-ams

The Bob Hope is starting today down in Palm Springs, but I probably won’t be tuning in. When I’m watching golf on TV, I want to watch good golf. I want to watch PGA Tour level play. Otherwise I could go down to the local municipal course and watch a bunch of hacks. I’m not a big fan of watching pro-am tournaments and all the “hit and giggle” of the “celebrities” in the field. I don’t watch a lot of TV so many of these sitcom stars are foreign to me.

Reasons I might tune in, though not likely

That being said, I almost made it a point to tune in because I saw that Eva Longoria was on the list of celebrities. I would watch her swing a golf club any time. Then I read it again and realized it wasn’t the brunette babe from Hot American Housewives (or whatever that show is called), but some baseball player named “Evan” Longoria. Boo hoo.

Two “celebrity” players not in the field which always seem to be in these tournaments are Kenny G and George Lopez. If those guys were in the field, I probably wouldn’t even go in the same room as my TV.

Yeah I don’t blame you. Who wants to watch George Lopez attempt to hit a golf ball? Not me

It depends… I agree – it can be hard to watch a lot of the CEOs and executive types muddle around the golf course. But with some celebrities like Bill Murray, it can actually add something to the tournament.

The key, I think, is in making sure they know who to put the camera on during the telecast.
