Golf Digest’s top 100 U.S. courses for this year (see below if you click “read more”) has Augusta National (The Masters) at #1 now, over long time #1 Pine Valley. I guess they like distance in their ranking equation?

Beginning to wonder about Golf Digest’s “rankings”

Golf Digest loves to rank everything. While browsing their web site trying to find the elusive top 100 golf courses list, I found that they’re even ranking the top 100 musicians who golf. Strangely enough, GD had Kenny G listed at #2 on that list. This is why I now take Golf Digest’s rankings with a grain of salt. Everyone knows that Kenny G isn’t a musician, he’s a kazoo player.

I now have my own list of rankings as inspired by Golf Digest.

The Hooked On Golf Blog Top 100 Kazoo Players Who Play Golf

1. Kenny G

Please accept my apologies. I couldn’t find any other kazoo playing golfers for my top 100 list.

Distance doesn’t seem to be a deciding factor..or Cypress Point wouldn’t be near the top ten..let alone #4. Merion …Olympic….pretty short fare these days….
The rankings are done by a conglomerate of opinions together with some apparent “objective” criteria. On integrity of design principles alone the new Augusta is hugely suspect..but easily the most visually exposed course in history. One thing we know for sure..Golf Digest receives notoreity for these rankngs and people may read it for something other than Tiger’s SECRET MOVE..which ironically, like many of the courses listed is inaccessible.

  2. Well my point is that AN moved to #1 after being lengthened…

  3. hsot says:

the only reason augusta is #1 is because its the 75th anniversary of jones’ grand slam, just like when pebble beach took #1 the year it held the 100th us open, its b.s. augusta cant touch pine valley
