Azinger won’t return as Ryder Cup cap’n

Paul Azinger won’t be captaining the next Ryder Cup team.  The guy knows how to quit while he’s ahead or on top.

Maybe he figures the next Ryder Cup team won’t have as good of a chance at winning next time because Tiger Woods will likely be back playing on the team?

I’d say it has as much to do with the Committee not wanting him back as it does with Azinger not wanting it. Maybe more. I did hear on the Golf Channel that the committee won’t break from tradition and keep Azinger on for a second time. And I think that’s a good thing. If they go to the well once too often, then the US team will probably lose the next time.

I like your comment about Tiger’s effect on the US Team 🙂 But I think he and Corey Pavin might get along so things might change in 2010. I think I saw them play a practice round together in 2006 at the Bridgestone Inv. And whose to say that Tiger will be playing then? He might decide to stay home with the kids and live off his massive wealth until they get old enough to go to school or something.
