I’m busting out the golf apparel reviews on a daily basis!  Today’s apparel review is of the Oxford Golf Ballybay Polo.  Lets take a look.

Ballybay Description

The Ballybay polo is made from Oxford’s stretch “CoolMax” fabric.  The fabric is a 93% polyester and 7% spandex mix, with an anti-microbial finish.  My dislike for cotton is well publicized and this polo is a keeper since it has NO cotton!  The anti-microbial finish helps keep odor away.

The fabric features Super Dry performance wicking, which draws moisture away from the skin and to the outside of the fabric where it evaporates.

A great feature, which really helped me last week along with the wicking, is that the shirt provides ultraviolet ray protection.  I was in the sun last Thursday ALL day at Black Mesa (pictured below) with my Ballybay.

On The Course

This polo is very comfortable and light on the skin.  As I mentioned, I spent from 7:30am until about 7:00pm playing 36 holes in the desert of New Mexico last week while wearing the Ballybay.  The picture below is on the 34th hole at Black Mesa. At the end of the day I was cool and not sweaty.  No odors (not that I usually have them).  Very impressive.

During the golf swing the shirt performs well.  No binding or tight areas through all phases the golf swing.

Cleaning the Ballybay has been convenient and it doesn’t wrinkle easily because of the fabrics.  This is good because I’d rather spend my time golfing that ironing shirts.

Conclusion

The $79 Oxford Golf Ballybay Polo is as comfortable and good looking as it is useful.  This is a very good high performance polo which keeps you dry, comfy and doesn’t interfere with the golf swing.  Aside from knocking a few strokes off my scores or making my short game better, I couldn’t ask for much more from a golf shirt!
