Tiger Woods answered a bunch of fan questions on video following his press conference at the Chevron World Challenge yesterday.  Everything from swing tips to belly putters to classes he liked at Stanford.

Watch the last 2-3 seconds closely and tell me what your take is.

It was just a job Tiger had to do. Nothing more or less. It is like any of the tourney interviews. A necessity to please viewers and fans. I feel he would much prefer not to do any of it. He wants to be a private, leave me alone, person. But his job won’t allow that.

I love to watch him play golf and I hope he beats Jack’s record. He is so dedicate to performing at the highest possible level. Before all of his personal calamities and injuries, he was the best golfer in the world. Possibly the best golfer ever, of course impossible to determine.

I think you are reading too much into it. I think he was just done with the questions. His team is too paranoid about the image he presents to leave that in there if he is actually annoyed about doing the video.

  3. Thanks for the comments Perry and Justin. Justin I haven’t written an opinion, just asked for your take. I’m surprised it wasn’t edited off.

My take was he was just having some fun during and at the end. We make too much out of everything the man does. He was tongue & cheek through the whole thing and I think it’s refreshing to see his human side. Maybe because I have a similar sense of humour, but I thought it was great. He had a little self deprecation, a little tongue and cheek and some honest answers, what more could we ask. If he were a regular guy as portrayed in this I would hang with him.

Seemed like he was anxious to get back to partying with Charlie and the goddesses.

Also surprised it wasn’t edited out, his image has been so permanently tarnished that his team has to be really watchful. It does seem like his team has directed him to work on being more personable. At this point, however, I don’t think there is any resurrecting his career.

I’m a huge Tiger fan because he brings excitement to the game of golf like no other, and I want him to regain his mastery and dominance. However, he seems to be someone who wants to ply his craft with his clubs and actually abhors rendering service to the fans outside the ropes. To me, the last seconds of video were not the real demonstration of his loathe for this duty. More revealing was his clearly phony smile while looking into the camera at the end of each answer. It appeared to be a way of masking his clenched teeth and the utterances he wanted to make in response to what he considers inane questions, a waste of his time, and an invasion of his privacy.
