Tiger Woods withdraws from final round of WGC Cadillac Championship after 11 holes. Slow speed blimp/car chase ensues.

The final round of the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral is getting bizarre.  A few minutes ago Tiger Woods changed shoes at the turn.  After another hole or two Tiger then withdrew from the tournament, citing a left leg injury.  He didn’t talk to the press.  At that point in time he was +3 on the round and 10 shots off the lead.

Slow Speed Blimp Chase

In true golf TV media fashion, the blimp left tournament play and flew over Tiger’s car.   Tiger got in the driver’s seat and his caddie in the passenger seat.  Later a medical cart came up to Tiger’s parked vehicle and brought up ice packs.  A minute or two later Tiger’s Mercedes (ironic since this is the Cadillac Championship) headed out.  The blimp took chase, covering it above much like the OJ Simpson slow speed white blazer chase.  An odd sequence of events without a doubt.

Nobody really knows what sort of injury it is or how severe.  I’d bet we will be seeing Tiger at the Masters.  In the meantime the golf media will be on suicide watch.

UPDATE: Tiger has reported the issue is with his left Achilles and he will be having it evaluated later this week.
