Sergio Garcia leads the Open Championship after round one. I’ve long said I don’t think Sergio will NEVER win a major. Luke Swilor and I have a bet for a frosty beverage…

BUT Garcia has pulled out an unexpected tool, a belly putter. Garcia is one of the best ball-strikers ever, but has gagged on putts forever. Now that he has a belly putter he seems to be putting well. Let’s just wait and see how the belly works as the pressure gets worse and worse…

    Go Sergio – he is similar to Fred Couples’ game – the fantastic ball striking keeps him in contention even with the dropped shots each round because of the putter. If this belly putter is a short term answer for that – look out!
