Greetings from beautiful Midway, Utah and Soldier Hollow Golf Course. I’ve been on the course up here at the 87th USGA Public Links Championship, shooting some photos of many players and the golf course. HOG World Tour Heads To 87th USGA U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship

A quick post before I down some Raisin Bran, grab my laptop and Nikon and head out the door. I’m heading up to the 1st round of the 87th U.S. Amateur Publinks, being contested about a 40 minute drive from HOG World Headquarters in Midway, Utah. Midway is a beautiful town, just a few minutes from Park City. The area is full of amazing golf courses.

The USGA has chosen Utah as its location bringing for the first time ever a United States Golf Association championship to my home state.

The host course is called Soldier Hollow, a links style track located on a mountain side. I’ll be shooting plenty of photos of the players and the course so stay tuned.

Review: Wilson Staff RS FYbrid 5h

I was so excited to try out the new Wilson Staff “FYbrid” clubs that I hit them before I took my images. Normally I shoot my images before I scratch up the faces and such, but not this time… Today I’m covering the FYbrid RS 5H or 5-Hybrid. The club is a 27 degree hybrid, the 2nd shortest in the line. So what exactly is a FYbrid anyway? You guessed it. FYbrid is a combination of a fairway metal and hybrid club. The FYbrid line contains seven clubs. The shortest clubs have a hybrid head design and the line morphs into a fairway style head design as the clubs get longer.

Technology

The RS in the name stands for “Rocker Sole.” The face is rounded at the bottom or sole, helping the player get the ball into the proper position at address. The material taken away from the heel and toe of the club face promote solid contact through varying lies and surfaces. (more…)
