Fantastic! The Golf Chick wearing a killer HOG hat!

I’ve had a great digital golf blogging friend in the #1 female golf blogger Kristen Williams, a.k.a. The Golf Chick, for around six years.  We’ve emailed, tweeted, chatted, facebooked and exchanged in every other digital form of communication available to the golf sphere since the mid 2000’s.  I was happy to help her get her own site running back in the day. Glad to help her get her own URL and off of that cookie cutter yawner blogger platform years ago.

Finally at the 2011 Mesquite Amateur tournament Kristen and I met in person, late Sunday after I rolled in from Texas and the Byron Nelson. I was so hammered from covering the Byron and I should have gotten some sleep, but we had way too much catching up to do.  We had mega fun chatting it up at the Casablanca bar, enjoying the lounge band and watching the locals getting themselves kicked out of the place for humping on the dance floor and slapping each other’s bare asses.  It doesn’t get much better than that.

Kristen is one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet and down right fun. It was so cool to hang with her at the Mesquite Am. Unfortunately I had to take off early unexpectedly. Damn, Kristen and I didn’t even get a photo together.  But if we did, I might have to stand on a phone book.

You can check out Kristen’s Mesquite Am wrap up part 1 here. Very kind words and I too consider Kristen a great friend, sniff sniff.

Mushy Moment

People always ask me what the best part of running a popular golf blog is. Is it the gear, the golf, going to tour events?  Sure those things are cool, but the people I get to meet and the friendships I’ve gained, like Kristen’s, are by far the best part of golf blogging.  Wouldn’t trade that for anything.

I definitely agree with your “mushy moment”. Even though jaysgolf is just a baby (went live Oct ’10) I have already made relationships because of it that I never would have guessed to be so cool and fulfilling. I can only imagine what the future will bring!

It’s great to see an open, inclusive online community building around golf. It’s one of the things I like so much about hockey fans that I want to bring to to golf world. There still seems to be a lot of exclusiveness left in golf. I’m now subscribed to The Golf Chick’s blog too.

Sniff sniff! Wow, Tony… thank you so much for the sweet words. We can always snap a pic sitting down. Or we’ll get you that phone book.

I also totally agree with your mushy moment. It’s all about the people and relationships! So glad to know you!

Jay, I’m already feeling like I know you but I know we will meet in person one day as well. Looking forward to it!

Scott – thanks for checking out my blog! I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me there, too! (c:

You two can go right on having your mushy moments, but keep writing. You both are very enjoyable….. the blogs are great.
