I see London I see France. I see Paula Creamer’s….

Paula Creamer Crotch ShotIs Paula Creamer wearing shorts in this picture or a skirt? Not sure this is a terribly good choice for Yahoo Sports to be displaying this picture of Paula in their RSS golf news feed. It’s quite “Ladies of Big Break crotch shotesque” of them.

Of course, being a golf blogger with very low standards, I have no problem posting it.

Annika back in the winner’s circle

I’m glad that Annika Sorenstam got herself back in the winner’s circle today. She defeated Paula Creamer on the first hole of a playoff at the Stanford International Pro-Am. That marks victory #71.

All due respect to Lorena Ochoa, Annika is still #1 in my book.

Rachel Newren is an up and coming lady golfer to watch for

How hard is it to win your state amateur championship? Extremely hard. How about winning two in a row? My friend Rachel Newren did. Rachel is no longer an amateur though. She’s turned pro and will be going on the Futures Tour this year. I’ve had the pleasure of playing golf with Rachel a few times. She plays against all the men in our club, from the same tees, and beats them all.

Just last week, she bombed a drive 20 yards past me on the 468 yard par four 2nd hole. I hit first, a hell of a shot which ended up about 10 feet. Rachel then stiffed one to about three feet. The swing that hit the stiff shot is in the YouTube video below. I made par after two-putting. Rachel? Birdie.

Keep your eye on Rachel in the future and wish her luck!

Happy to see Annika get her 70th win

I’ve always been a huge Annika Sorenstam fan. I haven’t jumped on the Lorena Ochoa bandwagon yet. I’m very glad to see Annika get her 70th win in Hawaii at the SBS Open, after going over a year without a victory.

As I’ve said many times, it’s a privilege to have watched golf during the Tiger AND Annika eras.

HOG does nine with golf babe Blair O’Neal

golf babe blair oneal o'neal not natalie gulbis hahaRecently I had the pleasure of interviewing a lady who I consider to be one of the most beautiful women in the golf world (a.k.a. golf babe), Blair O’Neal. Blair is not only a great golfer and a successful model, she’s a downright nice person.

1. You are a multi-tasking woman. You have two fields in which you excel. First, which is obviously why this interview is happening is GOLF! Give our readers a short golf bio. Tell us about your golf career, professional status, tournaments won or whatever info you’d like to share.

Well, as a junior golfer I played the American Jr. Golf Association tour every summer all over the US. I was also a member of the Jr. Ryder Cup Team in Spain. I won my State Championship in High School and was recruited by Linda Vollstedt at Arizona State University. I played every event during my four year college career at ASU and competed in the NCAA All- Stars team in Asia. After graduating I turned pro and played on the West Coast Golf Tour. I spent some time overseas playing all over Asia and in the Orient Masters. I also qualified for the Futures Tour (Developmental Tour for the LPGA). I have traveled all over the U.S. playing on the Futures Tour. There was some time off soon after because of a broken foot injury. But 8 months later when that was healed, I went back to the Futures Tour. That’s the short version!

2008 PGA Show post 1 :: Ashley & Guru sitting in a tree V2.0

Two years ago my pal Bogeyman got me Ashey Prange’s (Big Break) autograph with the quote “long and straight.” Ahem.

Last year at the 2007 PGA Show I met Ashley and got a pic with her. Fast forward one year and I meet her again for the 2nd time. The story…

Orlando Florida, 8:50pm ET

ashely big breakTraveled 2310 miles today, no food, three airports and an hour shuttle ride. Despite being tired, I’m always keeping my eyes open and I’m aware of my surroundings.

The good news is that my hotel is right next to the convention center and across the street from one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Maggiano’s. I needed food bad but the place was packed. So I hit the bar and got on the waiting list for a table. Two chianti’s into my wait I ran into my pal Ashley from The Golf Channel’s Big Break series. She introduced me to her dad and her uncle. I asked her what she was up to, we had a toast (she drinks red wine… yup always aware) and we took a picture (right).

Ashley said she was working on her game and would be doing some Futures Tour events.

I must say Ashley looked simply fabulous! I must also say that I look like I traveled 2310 miles with no food, three airports, a one hour shuttle ride and two chiantis…
