Very unhappy about dent in my beautiful new putter

Yesterday one of my buddies lost a ball in an area of grass which had a bunch of clippings.  We were trying to find his ball by dragging our clubs through the clippings to see if the missing ball was underneath them when his wedge hit my new Dornoch Putter.  It put a big ding in the face.  Boy am I a sad camper right now.

Just before that happened my other pal was telling the guy who hit my putter with his wedge that my putter was the most beautiful putter he’d ever seen.  Boo hoo.  I’m on suicide watch now…

Dornoch Putters by Grant Mackay – I’ve Got A New Putter In The Bag

I don’t switch putters very often.  In fact, the last time I switched was because my old putter was stolen.  I’ve switched and I’m very happy with my new putter by Grant Mackay of Dornoch Putters.  This thing is amazing.

Dornoch Putters

Set Up

I missed the DHL guy a couple of times.  I didn’t know what he was delivering.  On the 3rd day he finally caught me and handed me a golf club box.  The problem was that the top 1/3 of the box was gone and there was the handle of a golf club sticking out about 1.5 feet.  I looked at the return address and this thing had come clear from Scotland.  I asked the DHL guy about the condition of the box and he said “this is the way it was when it got to me.”   Surprisingly the putter had survived a trip from Scotland to Utah with half the box gone and/or destroyed.

I tested the putter out on the practice green a few days later and shot some pictures of it, as I do for all my reviews.  I wasn’t quite done testing it on the practice green, not confident enough to try it on the course yet.  The next day I forgot to put my regular putter back in the bag and found out the Dornoch Putter was in play when I arrived at the 1st green in my Thursday money game.  Uh oh.  That could be expensive.

As it turned out, it was expensive…  for my opponents.  I putted so well that day, that the putter hasn’t left my bag since.

Haven’t played much golf lately, just 19 holes in about four weeks.  Hopefully that schedule will improve soon, because yesterday we had frost on the ground.  Winter is coming.

So I’m on #8 two days ago and I see a praying mantis on the cart path.  He’s next to some other insects looking at them, figuring out which one he was going to have for lunch.  When I came up, the mantis took off but the other three insects didn’t care about my presence.  They were busy.  Insert porno soundtrack here:

Charley Hoffman wins Deutsche Bank with final round 62. I wonder if he and Rickie Fowler go to the same hair stylist?

Wow there are some very surprising results during this year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs so far, with two more tournaments to go.  Neither Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson are even in the top ten in points.

FedEx Cup Top Five

1. Matt Kuchar
2. Charlie Hoffman
3. Steve Stricker
4. Jason Day
5. Luke Donald

Charlie Hoffman found the zone yesterday with a 62 to pull away from the field and win the Deutsche Bank, vaulting him from 59th 2nd in the FedEx Cup standings.  Despite that, I doubt Corey Pavin will pick Charlie for the Ryder Cup unless perhaps he stays hot for the next two events.

The big question about Charlie, is if he and Rickie Fowler go to the same hair stylist?
