Street casual golf shoes are the rage.  I knew comfort wasn’t in question but I’ve wondered if this type of golf shoe could provide enough performance and stability in the golf swing for serious players.  Now I know.  Lets take a look at the 2012 Cardiffs and see what the buzz is all about, and if they can provide my spastic swing a solid base.

On The Course

I’ve logged several rounds with my Cardiffs now.  I’ve played in varying conditions from dry dusty desert windy conditions to courses which are over-watered and wet.  I was very surprised in those wet conditions (yesterday in fact) that I never slipped.

The comfort of the Cardiffs is as I expected from Ashworth, fantastic. Right out of the box I was walking the course with no issues, no trouble spots rubbing, no blisters.

My spastic swing can be fairly jerky sometimes.  Even when my timing and weight shift are really bad my feet haven’t slipped with the Cardiffs in play.  I’ve been hitting some great drives and especially solid iron shots with the Cardiffs on my feet.  Performance wise they compare with any traditional golf shoe.

I have yet to walk around town or wear these in my daily activities, but these babies will fit right in with my typical street wear: skate shoes.

Conclusion

I’ve always loved the fit and comfort of skate shoes like Vans and Tony Hawk shoes.  Ashworth’s Cardiff golf shoes bring that comfort level to the links.  Comfort is as far as those skate shoes would go, as I’m sure my feet would slip all over the place and I’d probably blow out a knee hitting my driver.  The Cardiffs on the other hand, have excellent traction and allow me to have a solid base and get the most power out of my golf swing possible.  Did I mention that the Cardiffs are very attractive to boot?  Winner.

Father’s Day is coming up this weekend.  The Ashworth Cardiffs would be a great golf related Father’s Day gift.
