Bomb scare at my home course

Time for another episode of  “strange things you find on the golf course.”

Just stopped by to visit my buddy named Guy (a.k.a. Golf4Birds) who runs my home course, River Oaks.  I couldn’t help noticing the bizarre thing on a chair in his office which looked like World War II bomb.  I tried to move the item, but it is seriously made of solid lead.

Anybody know what this is?

A course marshal saw this bomb looking thing in the bushes between holes 7 & 8 on July 20th.  They shut down that end of the course for the police and fire department to investigate and routed everyone away from those holes, having to give refunds to the patrons.  It wasn’t a bomb fortunately.  The theory is that it is some sort of boat/trolling weight or something like that.
