Well I’d like to wish a happy 4th of July and happy birthday to the USA today.  I spent the day playing Scottish golf!  No better way to celebrate the fourth I suppose.

Today my pals and I played the absolutely amazing Castle Course here in St. Andrews.  This place is stunning!  See image below and look for a new HOG Castle gallery soon.

The Castle Course in St. Andrews is amazing!

After the Castle round, we headed down to town and played the New Course at St. Andrews.  The “New” Course opened in 1895…

Are you playing Kingsbarns just down the road from the Castle Course? If not, I strongly recommend you to. It is one of the absolutely best courses I have played. The Old Course is the Old Course, but otherwise Kingsbarns is the best I ever played.

I have been to St Andrews two years in a row now in end April. It is a fantastic experience that any serious golfer must do!

Congrats and Happy 4th. I played the Old Course on July 4, 2002 with a 12-some. myself & 3 buddies, 4 caddies and 4 wives tagging along. What a great time.

Played it again a few days later, teeing off at 5:30PM and finishing with still plenty of light in the sky. Stays light until almost midnight this time of year over there.

  3. Yes our group played Kingsbarns as well. That track was awesome as well. Hard to find bad golf in Scotland.
