mastersWhat a day so far.  Rory McIlroy dropped a 65 on Augusta National, and didn’t get as much out of that round as he could have.  With better putting he could have posted a low 60’s round.

Phil Mickelson started out with 7 pars in a row and birdied #8, sitting at -1 on #9 tee.  Despite previous announcements, Phil did NOT go with two drivers.

Matt Kuchar is in the house currently tied for 2nd with Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzel at -4.  Garcia has one hole left, Schwartzel two.

Tiger Woods came into 18 at -1 with a great save for par on 17 from over the back of the green. He hit a great approach to the back pin on 18 but pulled it a bit left.  Final score for TW is a 71

Despite the hot start, Retief Goosen finished at -2, where he stood after eagling the 1st hole from the fairway.

Y.E. Yang nearly hit a 2nd “shot heard ’round the world” when he knocked his 2nd shot to two feet on the par-5 13th.  Tap in eagle.

Martin Kaymer, as I predicted, struggled today.  There’s a reason he’s missed the cut in all three of his Masters appearances.  Total score 78.
