State of my game. Perhaps I should say lack of a game…

Shoulder status

It has been over seven weeks since I’ve hit a golf ball. I’m still coming back from my separated shoulder, which was seven weeks and two days ago. Full recovery according to my doctor, is 6-8 weeks. I think the shoulder is healed over 90%. For the first time in weeks I actually slept on my right side for about 10 minutes without pain. And the last couple of mornings I’ve awakened to no shoulder pain. It was especially bad in the mornings for weeks.

The bad news

I’ve been moving my home and HOG World Headquarters to a fantastic new location, but the heavy lifting has taken its toll on me. For years I’ve been under doctor’s orders not to lift heavy items because of my scoliosis (curved spine).   Being a rock head, I disregarded those orders and lifted some very heavy items.  I’m paying the price for doing that.  For the last couple of weeks I’ve had extremely bad back spasms. The best way to describe them would be like having an ice pick stabbed into your lower back.  These spasms are so bad they make me actually “yelp” out loud.  Yesterday it was so bad, I could hardly lift a gallon of milk from the store shelf to my shopping cart.

I’m going to take it easy now.  I have to.  I hope the spasms end soon.  Nothing heavy today.  Just watching golf on TV and doing some golf blogging.
