Intrusive ad intrudes more than it should

I don’t like popup ads, or ads which take over the page and push the content down, requiring you to “close” them to see the content of the page.  The PGA Tour web site has many of these, and they can be quite a pain.  On one of my recent visits to the home page the ad was even worse.  It messed up the whole format of the page:

intrusive ad

I might actually frequent sites more if they didn’t have these intrusive ads.  When I know they do, I avoid going there unless I absolutely have to.

I feel the design pain on this, having designed my own pages and gotten them looking good only to find they don’t work in IE or some odd browser/host setup.
