Golf investors scammed out of $28 million

October 23rd, 2008

Anyone have an extra $28 million to “invest” in my golf ventures?  Oh probably not since all those potential investors already (allegedly) lost $28 million investing into a ficticious golf technology firm.  Don’t worry.  I’d use the investment money wisely, for my gambling addiction, lavish lifestyle and of course to make payments on my three houses.

Tattoo Golf Belts & Belt Buckles

October 21st, 2008

The latest super-cool offering from Tattoo Golf is their new belts and belt buckles.

Tattoo Golf is a close friend and I definitely promote their aggressive golf apparel and accessories every chance I get.

I had a hard time explaining to some lady golfers what appeared to be me taking pictures of my crotch on the 6th hole the other day. I was shooting pics of my Tattoo Golf belt and belt buckle. I’m not sure they believed my story…

Belt

You can pick up the belt alone for $19.99.  The belt is a thick and wide “biker leather” belt with the trademark skull and golf bones logo stamped into it.

Belt Buckle

The belt buckles can be purchased individually as well for $19.99 and come in two flavors: silver and black backgrounds.  The one I’m wearing is the black flavor.

Belt & Buckle combo

You can save a few bucks if you buy the two items together.  I have one recommendation though.  The design of the buckle essentially adds some length to the belt.  You have to be sure to get a version of the belt which is about one size smaller if you get the buckle.

I’ve gotten a ton of comments on my Tattoo Golf belt and belt buckle.   I love wearing them (and many other TG items) around the stuffy country clubs.  I meet dress code, but they still look at me funny… which is good.

LPGA losing sponsors

October 18th, 2008

LPGA title sponsor ADT Security is not renewing its contract after this season.  This marks the 5th title sponsor the LPGA has lost this year.  ADT says they’re “investing in growth areas of their business more closely aligned with their customers.”  Is that doubletalk for “we didn’t see a return on our investment from the Asian, lesbian and golf calendar girl crowd?”

A note from Tony Korologos,
HOG Space commissioner and organizer:

HOG Space Participants: It has been a great 2008 fantasy golf season! I’ve truly enjoyed the competition (when I didn’t forget to select my damn team before the deadlines). It takes a lot of time to put together the scores, ship prizes and do all the "administrative" parts of running a league with roughly 200 participants. I did my best to get things done as my schedule allowed and I hope all went well for everyone. I look forward to making 2009 even better!

Let the sponsors know they are appreciated!

Do us all a favor and let all the sponsors know that you appreciated them. Click their links and send them some emails letting them know! We’d like them to feel like they’re getting some marketing value out of providing prizes.

I’m going to start looking for sponsors for HOG Space 2009 soon so please contact me to be a sponsor.

I’m considering using a different fantasy engine/provider for next year so let me know if you have any suggestions. In fact, I’m open to any suggestions at all to make the league better for 2009!

See you on the golf course and I look forward to 2009 fantasy golf!

SPECTACULAR conditions

October 16th, 2008

I’m so happy today. I just putted on perhaps the best greens I’ve EVER putted on at one of my favorite courses, Bonneville. It was such a pleasure to putt on greens so pure and fast. I’m guessing they were a 12 on the stimp meter, with NO bumps. Smooooooth. If you hit a 39 foot putt on line with the right speed, it never varied and went straight in the hole.  You had to really place approach shots in the precise location.  You had to nut up and hit your chips perfectly or they were gone.  As fast as the greens were, they still held shots and properly played chips.  Perfect.

Bonneville GC 1st Tee

Bonneville GC 1st Tee

I had a great time playing with my normal Thursday group, with the addition of my pop. My pop and I took on my other two buddies in a nassau. It all came down to the 18th hole. All the bucks and bragging rights were on the line as we were tied.   First, my 71 year old dad blows his drive past my friend John, an ex-marine with hands as strong as a bull. Then I drain a 20 footer for birdie to bury our opponents and send them for their wallets.

The greens at Bonneville were so pure I just can’t get over it. Pure. This traditional, tree lined course is special, as you can see from the picture I shot from the 1st tee.  I play well and putt amazingly on this course.  Is there some kind of vibe I get from this course?  Perhaps so, since it opened the day I was born.

Seve Ballesteros undergoes 12 hour brain surgery

October 15th, 2008

The BBC reported this morning that Seve Ballesteros did in fact have his surgery today to remove a brain tumor.  They reported that he was conscious after the 12 hour operation.

Other reports I’ve read say that not all of the tumor was removed.

Once again, I send my best wishes to Seve and hope for a full recovery.
