My Utah Utes beat Michigan at the Big House

August 31st, 2008

Utah Utes Football Golf ShoeMan what a great first day of college football yesterday. My little ole University of Utah Utes (the first non BCS team to go to a BCS bowl) go into the Big House and beat Michigan in front of over 100,000 people and millions on national TV.

The 25-23 score wasn’t really indicative of most of the game. Utah thumped Michigan in the first half and led 25-10 most of the way with nearly 5x the offensive output.

Our defense was huge, holding Michigan to a mere 36 yards rushing.

Congrats to my Utes. One down, 11 to go.

BYK Golf SuperAirTee

August 31st, 2008

Here’s a new bamboo “toothpick” tee I found at the Vegas PGA Expo. These are the latest from BYK Golf. I’ll be trying them out on the course soon and I’ll let you know how they perform.

Interviewing the interviewers – Mike & Billy from Golf Talk Radio

August 30th, 2008

This is one of my favorite interviews from the 2008 PGA Expo in Las Vegas. I got to turn the tables on Mike & Billy from Golf Talk Radio and stick a camera in their mugs. Let’s see how they handled it…

Guru Poulter & Scott at the Vegas PGA show

August 27th, 2008

Greetings from Buffalo Wild Wings on the south strip in Vegas. No internet connection in the damn press room has hobbled my ability to “live blog” from the 2008 PGA Expo here.

I’m now having a frosty beverage with my pal Scott from Swing Reminders waiting for my flight. It just so happens that there’s a net connection here so I’m posting the “Guru Poulter” video clip below.

2008 Vegas PGA Expo Post #1

August 26th, 2008

Unfortunately I’m posting from a crappy computer with a dysfunctional spacebar.  The press room doesn’t have an open wireless or wired internet connection and Mandalay Bay is asking for $500 to hook my laptop up to wireless.

I’d love to be posting tons of pictures and videos from the show, but I can only do that if MY computer is hooked up, not some generic peeeceee in the press room which doesn’t “haveaworkingspacebar.”

So unless something changes on my end, I won’t be able to get any of my images and video from the show posted until later this week.

Rain drop in Vegas causes airline havoc

August 25th, 2008

Greetings from the Salt Lake airport. My flight was scheduled to leave 30 minutes ago. I’m posting via my iPhone & a new app for mobile blogging.

Apparently bad weather in Vegas has shut down incoming flights. I have to wait here an hour for the next update on the conditions

Bad weather? Someone must have heard a rumor that a raindrop may have been seen in the area.

Update

I’m now in the plane (1.6 hours late now) but we have to sit on the runway for 45 minutes before we can take off.

HOG world tour heading to PGA Expo in Vegas today

August 25th, 2008

I’m packin’ my gear now (camera, laptop and a couple of golf shirts). I’ll be landing in Vegas in time for din-din tonight and then hitting the sack resting for the PGA Show Fall Expo. I’ll be live blog-casting from the show and taking lots of photos of all the cool new golf products I find.

I haven’t attended this show and I’m sure it won’t be close to as big as the main PGA Show in Orlando. That being said, this will be a good chance to do some research with companies and individuals who may not make it to Orlando.

Meeting Tuesday at 3:00

HOG readers and The Golf Space members who are attending the show will be getting together at 3:00 Tuesday! We’re meeting at the “Swingreminders” booth, #962.

See you there!

Frogger Amphibian Ball Towel

August 22nd, 2008

Frogger Golf Ball TowelI’ve been pals with Frogger Golf for several years now. When Frogger releases a product you can be sure there will be nothing better on the market. Back in May of 2007 I reviewed the hands-down best golf brush on our planet and many others, the Brush Pro. My original Brush Pro is still in action after performing thousands club cleanings. Frogger provided Brush Pros for this year’s HOG Space fantasy golf league too.

Next awesome Frogger product:
Frogger Amphibian Golf Ball Towel

I’ve carried several different portable ball cleaning products. I’m not big on carrying a full sized golf towel to the green. I like the convenience of having a pocket towel.

I was thrilled to find that Frogger started making a pocket towel and I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. The Amphibian Ball Towel IS the best one I’ve used.

Gatorade Tiger lacks in the flavor department

August 21st, 2008

gatorade tigerIt is around 100 degrees here. When it gets that hot I can’t just drink water on the course. If I only drink water I end up with what the Greeks call “evil eye.” Evil eye is a mind splitting headache centered in my right eyeball. It hurts so bad and the only thing that helps is putting a freezing cold towel on my head and neck.

Hydrate

If I hydrate with a sports drink in these extreme conditions I seldom get the evil eye. My strength, concentration and endurance are also better. I’ve been drinking Gatorade for years and have grown to love the purple fierce and red flavors. I drink so much Gatorade in the summer that I’ve started buying the mix at Coscto and making my own. The cost per ounce is about 100th as much when you make your own.

Olympic Women’s Beach Volleyball

August 20th, 2008

I’m enjoying the Olympic Women’s beach volleyball golf (Freudian typo) gold metal match between the USA and China.

The USA is up one set to none so far.

What is making it even more “interesting” is that the match is being played in the rain. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off for some private time. ;-)

Update: The USA women won the gold!
