Hooked On Golf Blog is sponsoring it’s first official contest:
NAME TIGER WOODS’ BABY
Comment your name submission into the comments of this post and the winner will receive a special Hooked On Golf Blog & The Golf Space round golf towel.
My guesses:
The most logical name is Earl, after Tiger’s father.
Earl + Elin = Earlin
Eldrick (Tiger’s real name) + Earl = Earldrick
Kutilda (Tiger’s mom) + Elin = Kutelin
Nike + Elin = Elinike, Nikelin
Nike + Eldrick = Nikedrick
Kutilda + Earl = Earltilda
Kutilda + Nike = Nikutilda
Earl + Nike + Elin = Elinikearl
Eldrick + Elin + Kutilda + Earl + Nike = Nikeldrickarlda
On Tiger Woods’ birthday he announced that his wife Elin Nordgren is pregnant. Contrats to Tiger.
Now how will this all affect his golf career? Time will tell.
Today is Tiger Woods’ birthday. Hmm. What can I get him?
….I can’t think of anything I could get him that he doesn’t already have. Oh I have it! He can have my short game!
Other birthdays today:

When Hooked On Golf Blog started there were no more than 5 golf blogs. Now I’ve got well over 100 golf blogs listed in the HOG Master Links. There are probably 100’s more out there I don’t have in my links section. There sites like TravelGolf who have several bloggers under one roof and all the zillions of blogger golf blogs I’m sure I have yet to find.
For the end of the year I’m going to try to find some new golf blogs to add to my blogroll, and I’m also going to clean out the closet. It’s time to remove inactive golf blogs from my links. Inactive golf blogs which are still online and haven’t been deleted don’t really help the more active blogs much, except for possibly some cross linking. The inactive blogs suck up search engine positions and compete with the active blogs for search results.
So I’m going to run through my links over the next day or two and delete anything that hasn’t been updated in the last few months. If you have a golf blog I’d recommend you do the same.
UPDATE: Golf blog closet cleaning complete. Golf blogs which haven’t been updated in 3 months or more are gonzo! Now before you come here snivelling about your blog being deleted, make a post first and I’ll put it back in the links!
My rich uncle couldn’t use his Utah Jazz tickets a couple of nights ago. The Jazz were at home playing the Los Angeles Clippers (they won 102-98). I was happy to do my uncle a favor and take his place so the tickets managed to be used. It really sucked. He’s a VIP and pays major bucks for those tickets. The two seats are courtside, on the center line, 2nd row. $400 a seat. A little math (41 home games plus preseason), and you start to realize a pair season tickets in these seats are around $40K. Chump change.
Sitting in these VIP seats has some great advantages
1. You can smell the perfume of the cheerleaders and personally note weather each one has in “inney” or an “outey.”
2. You can smell the players’ BO.
2.5. You can try to read what the players’ tattoos say.
3. You can hear the players and coaches swearing at the refs.
4. Munch on free dinner before the game!
5. Free parking.
6. But perhaps the best advantate is the FREE BEER before the game and at half time. This is a major plus. That’s why the courside seats always seem to fill in late in the beginning of the game and at half time: free beer.
I’ve sat in these seats a bunch of times and every time it amazes me the size and beef level of these players. Not only are these players giant and musclebound, they run like deer and can jump insanely high. Golfers are not athletes compared to NBA players, no way.
It’s official. Tiger is once again skipping the PGA Tour season opening Mercedes Championship. I posted about this a week or so earlier.
The real reason he’s bailing on the Mercedes
From my post last week:
The real reason he’s probably going to bail on the Mercedes is he knows he has NO chance of winning. In fact nobody other than Stuart Appleby has a chance. They should just give Appleby the check and the trophy right now and forget playing the tournament.
Wow I guess maybe golfers really are athletes. Otherwise they wouldn’t win both the AP’s male AND female athlete of the year?
Tiger Woods is the AP male athlete of the year, Lorena Ochoa is the AP female athlete of the year. Full story here.
The latest Hooked On Golf Blog poll has been posted! VOTE NOW!
The question: Do you understand how the FedEx Cup works?
Has the PGA Tour and/or the media explained it clearly enough for you?

I'd like to see the fairways more narrow. Then everybody would have to play from the rough, not just me.
