There are some undocumented rumors floating around that Phil Mickelson has been fined a portion of his $10 million/year in endorsements for bowing out of too many tournaments this season.

Anyone know if this is real and/or have a link to a reputable source?

One response to “Phil Mickelson fined by Callaway?”

Undocument rumors seems like a good phrase. An item on this appeared in the Nov. 10 issue of Golf World Magazine. However, it cited only “multiple sources,” and apparently Callaway was not one of them. Mickelson’s agent did not comment. I’m always deeply suspicious of stories based solely on unnamed sources, especially if it’s not apparent that they have direct knowledge of the specific situation. In this case, I’d safely guess that Mickelson and his agent are too smart to suffer a penalty on a contract they signed.
