Tifosi Optics “Slip” Sunglasses Review

Tifosi Optics Golf Sunglasses ReviewThis is the first of a 3 part series I’m going to be doing on sunglasses from Tifosi Optics. Tifosi Optics “enthusiastically” makes eyewear of many types for many different activities, including golf.

Tifosi Slip Sunglasses

The Tifosi Slip model glasses are sunglasses with an interchangeable lens. The Slip model comes with multiple lenses for varying lighting and terrain conditions. You can easily switch lenses for the optimal clarity and focus while on the course.

Technology

The Slip is made from a nearly indestructible nylon which Tifosi calls “Grimalid TR-90.” This is a homopolyamide nylon with high bending strength, resistance to UV wear, low density (so it’s very light), and high resistance to chemicals. So not only are these glasses durable and strong on and off the course, you could use them in the event of a nuclear war.

The nose pads are ventilated to aid in slip resistance and comfort, even when you are perspiring. The pads are also fully adjustable for you to achieve the right fit and comfort.

The Ledges Photo Album Added

I’ve added roughly 60 images from The Ledges golf course to the HOG Photo Gallery. The Ledges is a new course in St. George, Utah. It’s in beautiful red rock country and as you can see the course has some very scenic views. I’ll be doing a review of The Ledges soon.

HOG hits the road…

Hello my friends. This post is set to automatically publish Friday morning. Bright and early I’ll be on interstate 15 heading south to Las Vegas and then to LA/SoCal for a few days. Golf will be involved but I’m going mainly to hang with my buddies on two live shows at the House of Blues in Vegas and LA. The artist is Al Di Meola, one of the world’s most amazing guitar players. Look me up if you are around.

I’m going to try my luck at getting on to Torrey Pines on Monday.

I hope the site doesn’t melt down while I’m away.

Take care,

Tony

2006 HOG Turkey Awards

I’m going on vacation the day after Thanksgiving. I’ll end up in Vegas and then Los Angeles. I’m thinking of trying to squeeze on at Torrey Pines (South course of course). I may also try to once again hook up with EatGolf, Grouchy, MyGolfBuddy and GolfChick. So I may not be posting much between now and when I get back around the 29th. In the mean time…

Each Thanksgiving I give out the Hooked On Golf Blog golf turkey awards. All you have to do to win a turkey award is be a bonehead.

HOG TURKEY AWARDS FOR 2006

10. Phil Mickelson hits a fan at Doral and smashes his wristwatch. Phil performs what I call “Grampituity” and slips the guy a couple of Ben Franklins in a handshake. The guy should have told Phil it was a Rolex.

9. Aaron Oberholser had a one shot lead at the TPC before he started knocking balls in the water to then end up in a tie for 17th.

8. Tim Finchem calls the Tour Championship a “lame duck tournament” since Phil and Tiger didn’t play and since the FedEx Cup wasn’t in place until next year.

7. Rory Sabbatini and his wife give grief to Nick Faldo for slow play. Sabbatini’s wife wears a shirt that says “keep up.” Faldo fires back with “It’s very embarrassing for them to bring their sexual problems to the course.”

6. John Daly and his wife file for divorce after she gets out of prison. Daly finishes 193rd on the money list. Nice.

5. Michelle Wie, while attempting to compete with the men, is carted off on a stretcher and doesn’t complete her round at the John Deere.

4. Tiger Woods bailed on the Tour Championship.

3. Michelle Wie set the standard for missing cuts in men’s tournaments, a feat no other woman will likely beat.

2. The U.S. Ryder Cup team gets their asses kicked…. again.

And the biggest bonehead and turkey of 2006 is….. drum roll please……

1. Phil Mickelson melts down on the 18th at the U.S. Open by pulling his driver out on the tee when he should have hit ANYTHING else. “I’m such an idiot” he said after the round. Then he compounded the mistake by making another bonehead choice, going for the green and hitting a tree. Phil makes double and hands Geoff Ogilvy the U.S. Open as an early Christmas present.

Vandals hit one of my home courses

Here are three pictures of what some vandals did to my Thursday course, Bonneville. Apparently this is the 2nd time they’ve broken into the cart barn and done something like this in the last 7 days.

These jerks also took some kind of vehicle onto #10 green and chewed it up pretty bad. There’s damage to #9 fairway and these aholes also apparently stole many of the tee markers.

Who would do this? This is a city owned course and the city has been talking about reduction in employee force or reduction of current employee wages. Perhaps there are some disgruntled employees they should look at.

Poll has a mind of it’s own

I have no idea why the poll has suddenly decided to have giant lettering. I didn’t do it…. Hopefully it’s not a hack attempt in progress like the one at 30 dollar golf. Looks like they’ve fixed it though so I’m glad.

Hmm. Something here is fishy. The HOG Master Links Page looks slightly different too. Something has happened.

PGA Grand Slam

If you are hurting for your Tiger Woods fix, the PGA Grand Slam is Tuesday and Wednesday this week, in prime time.

The Grand Slam is supposed to be for all 4 of golf’s major winners. Geoff Ogilvy will be there (US OPEN). Since Tiger won two (British, PGA) and Phil Mickelson has bailed on the 2006 season, Jim Furyk and Mike Weir get to play.

Tuesday 11/21 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM ET TNT
Wednesday 11/22 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM ET TNT

Golf isn't like other sports where you can take a player out if he's having a bad day. You have to play the whole game.
