Possible Callaway takeover bid?

My buddy BogeyMan has posted an article about a possible takeover bid of Callaway Golf.

Click here to read the article.

He mentions that Callaway is the nation’s largest golf manufacturer. Is this the case? This has made me wonder just who the top 5 or 10 golf manufacturers are in sequence.

I thought Titleist was the largest. Starting google search…

  1. Jason says:

As far as overall revenue, it is:
    1. Acushnet (Titleist, Footjoy, Cobra, Pinnacle)
    2. Callaway (Callaway, Odyssey, Ben Hogan, Top Flite)
    3. TaylorMade-adidas Golf (TaylorMade, adidas Golf, Maxfli)

Obviously, most of Acushnet’s revenue is in balls and shoes, and Callaway has a big portion in balls with Top Flite.

I am pretty sure that if you take just golf clubs sold in 2004 that TaylorMade is No. 1, passing Callaway for the first time in a while.

That’s an interesting topic, perhaps for another post.
